Current Projects

Teaching Tool: A software tool for biomedical test administration, including test creation, test giving, and test reporting is under development at CEB. This tool, the Teaching Tool, is being created in collaboration with NCI and the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP) and is expected to be used initially to carry out profession testing for colposcopists in the U.S. Scott is the principal software architect and developer for the Teaching Tool.

Visual Triage Study: The NCI Visual Triage Study is an evaluation of the capability of non-experts and experts to screen women during routine gynecological examinations for conditions of uterine pre-cancer and determine its treatability. Non-expert observers participating in the study include twelve midwives who each access the screening images from their sites in Peru, using NLM-developed client-server software. Each observer views 740 images at each of two sizes and answers questions about whether the woman whose cervix image is displayed is treatable by cryotherapy.
