About Java Web StartJava Web Start is an application deployment technology from Sun Microsystems. It allows users to launch full-featured Java applications (such as WebMIRS) with a single click from the web browser. Additionally, once installed, an application can be launched from the desktop without even bringing up a web browser at all. Even when started from the desktop, Java Web Start will check to make sure that the latest version of the WebMIRS application has been downloaded to the local machine. As of version 1.4 of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE), Java Web Start will automatically be included, so you may already have it installed. For more information about Java Web Start, go to the Sun Microsystems page. |
