Surprise Short Talk!

ABSTRACT

As a producing organization, WGBH is focused on content creation and preservation (essence and metadata).  As a distributor, PBS is all about distribution, business recovery, and efficiency.  However, we have one overall system and together we're looking to develop a more efficient end-to-end system for both our business of today as well as the future.  An overview of the goals and near-term future operation is presented.  We discuss our priorities in terms of common operational practices especially in interchange and preservation, which drill back to standards and recommended practices.  Dave MacCarn is a member of a NDIIPP grant looking at these issues, in conjunction with representatives from NYU, WNET, and PBS.
