Preservation Workflow at NYU: Performance on the Edge”

ABSTRACT
NYU is preserving contemporary performance art as part of its ongoing mission to provide preservation and access to unique multimedia materials. Standard definition video (SD), proposed changes in storing master files, and research in to high definition video (HD) preservation are discussed. We touch on the difference between preservation and display formats and also technical metadata employed. Some lessons learned along the way, including how to blow up a G4, are covered.
