ABSTRACT
We discuss our recent experience using the new SAMMA system with historic UMatic videotapes. These are being transferred to Betacam SP analog tape and encoded to MPEG2 on a server. An encoding of 250 hours to Motion JPEG 2000, stored at the San Diego Supercomputing Center, is planned.
